How we engrave an order in our Texas workshop

The red points of light on this Pisces lighter come from the laser's aiming dot. The photo was taken on the engraving bed in our workshop in Texas, where each piece is engraved to order.

What we start from

An order reaches us as three things: the piece, the design and the text. The design is either one of ours or a file you uploaded under Custom Logo. Our own designs are drawn here, the tarot-style cards on the zodiac Zippo among them, and each one is shown on its product page before you buy.

The preview on the product page shows the layout and the style. It is not a measurement. We fit the final size and position to the piece itself, whether that is a Zippo front or the cap of a titanium pen.

Before the laser

If you want to see your own text or logo placed before we engrave it, ask for a proof and we send one. We also send one without being asked when something about the placement needs your decision.

On the laser

We don't choose the color of the engraving, and neither do you. Laser engraving is not printing, so the material decides what you see:

• a genuine Zippo: gold on black matte, silver-white on brushed chrome, beige on brushed brass
• our black flip-top: light against the coating
• the matte black steel flasks: silver
• the wave flask: silver-white when it is black, dark gray when it is brushed silver
• the titanium pen: darker than the titanium
• the ostrich-style watch roll: light beige

The mark is in the material itself, so it won't peel or wash off.

Into the box

We're not robots, and we can make mistakes. If one of our mistakes reaches you, or a piece arrives damaged, write to us within 14 days of delivery with photos. We check the engraving against your original order and send a replacement at no cost.

An order placed before 12:00 PM Central Time on a business day starts production that day. Standard orders ship 3 to 5 business days after that first production day, or 2 to 3 business days without engraving, by USPS from Texas with the service you picked at checkout. If the date is close, add Next Day or Same Day production in the cart. They shorten our part only; the time in the mail stays the same.
